At the exchange seminar held at the HeYou International Hospital Project, Mr. Lie Haijian, Deputy Director of the Project Management Committee and Vice President of HeYou International Hospital, extended a warm welcome to the Greater Bay Area Medical Professional Delegation on behalf of the hospital. Mr. Lie Haijian introduced that the HeYou International Hospital Project originates from the philanthropic aspiration of Midea Group founder Mr. He Xiangjian to “benefit the community and give back to society.” Located in the Sanlongwan High-End Innovation Cluster Area of Foshan, a core area of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, it is a key construction project of Guangdong Province. The hospital began preparation in 2019. With strong support from the government and all sectors of society, the project has progressed rapidly in just a few years. The main hospital building has been successfully topped out, and it is planned to officially commence operations on June 28, 2024.

“HeYou will be built as an open, international hospital. We sincerely hope to engage in more exchanges and cooperation with the Hong Kong medical community, achieve more breakthroughs in medical services and technology, and work together to improve the health and well-being of the people in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.” stated Mr. Lie Haijian.

Ms. Ou Qianwen, Founding President and Supervisor of the Hong Kong Shunde Beijiao Clansmen Association, noted that Beijiao is the second “100 Billion Yuan Town” in Guangdong, nurturing two Fortune Global 500 companies, Midea and Country Garden. While adhering to manufacturing as its core, Beijiao vigorously promotes the coordinated development of urban and livelihood initiatives. The completion of the HeYou International Hospital Project will provide society with higher quality, more efficient, and more convenient medical services, help Foshan create a first-class business environment, and also contribute to the high-quality development of healthcare in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Dr. Gao Yongwen, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and a member of the Executive Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, served as the Honorary Leader of the Greater Bay Area Medical Professional Delegation. Dr. Gao Yongwen stated that with the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the demand for high-quality medical services is increasing. Hong Kong medical colleagues and institutions hope to leverage Hong Kong's experience to engage in more exchanges and cooperation with their counterparts in the Greater Bay Area, jointly enhancing the level of medical services in the region.

Furthermore, the HeYou International Hospital Project is located in the central area of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, very close to Hong Kong. We hope that Hong Kong medical organizations and professionals can establish cooperative relationships with the hospital.” stated Dr. Gao Yongwen.

The HeYou International Hospital Project is designed according to the standards of a domestic Grade III Level A general hospital and international quality certification systems. It covers a planned area of 386 mu (approximately 25.7 hectares), with a total construction area of 580,000 square meters, and is planned to have 1,500 beds.

The Greater Bay Area Medical Professional Delegation visited the model rooms, smart exhibition hall, proton and heavy ion center of the HeYou International Hospital Project, as well as its subsidiary, Meihe Hospital. The model rooms featured functional areas such as a nurse station, consultation rooms, double-patient wards, suite wards, restrooms, and accessible restrooms, simulating the future medical scenarios, service processes, and a series of HeYou “black technologies.” The bedside electronic terminal, integrated with comprehensive smart systems for environmental control, intelligent infusion, nursing calls, and vital signs monitoring, allows patients to operate autonomously from their beds. In addition to standard functions like lifting, the smart beds can automatically detect and record patient data such as heart rate, respiration, and weight in real-time, assisting medical staff in monitoring patients' vital signs and rest status.

The proton and heavy ion center, currently under accelerated construction, is one of the key projects of the HeYou International Hospital Project. It is expected to be completed and commence clinical trials by 2026. Proton and heavy ion therapy is considered the world's most advanced radiation therapy technology for tumors. Compared to conventional radiotherapy, proton and heavy ion therapy is known as a “cancer-fighting weapon” due to its advantages of milder side effects, a broader range of indications, and higher tumor control rates.

Dr. Lu Jiade, Vice President of HeYou International Hospital, introduced that upon completion of the proton and heavy ion center, the HeYou International Hospital Project will become the first treatment institution in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the second in China to possess both proton and heavy ion radiotherapy technologies. This will significantly enhance the level of precision oncology treatment in South China and bring hope for the life, health, and quality of life of cancer patients.
