Center Introduction
Heyou Hospital is developing the Heyou Proton & Heavy Ion Center to expand access to advanced particle therapy for patients with cancer.
As part of the broader Heyou Cancer Center, the center will feature an integrated Hitachi proton and carbon ion therapy system and is being built to support highly precise radiation treatment for selected patients, particularly when tumors are located close to critical organs or other sensitive normal tissues. As the first center in South China equipped with carbon ion cancer treatment facilities, it is intended to broaden access to advanced radiation oncology capabilities in the region.
The center is led by Professor Jiade Jay Lu, Executive Vice President of Heyou International Health System, Director of the Cancer Center, and Director of the Proton & Heavy Ion Center. Professor Lu is an internationally recognized radiation oncology specialist with extensive experience in particle therapy, clinical research, and program development. He previously served as Executive Vice President of the Shanghai Proton and Heavy Ion Center and held senior leadership roles at the National University Hospital in Singapore, including Vice President and Director of Radiation Oncology. Under his leadership, Heyou is building a multidisciplinary program that brings together radiation oncologists, medical physicists, and technical specialists to support safe, precise, and individualized care.
With a dedicated particle therapy platform, experienced clinical leadership, and a patient-centered multidisciplinary model, the Heyou Proton & Heavy Ion Center is being developed to make advanced radiation treatment more accessible for appropriately selected patients in South China.
