On the morning of May 27, the topping-out ceremony for the administrative building of the HeYou International Hospital project, themed “Crafting with Medical Devotion · A Promising Future,” was held. This marked another significant construction milestone since the hospital's foundation laying in November 2020. At the simple yet solemn ceremony, He Xiangjian, founder of Midea and Chairman of Midea Holding; Ou Zhuming, Deputy Secretary of the Shunde District Committee and District Mayor; along with other leaders and hospital management, were present to witness the event.

On the morning of May 27, the topping-out ceremony for the administrative building of the HeYou International Hospital project, themed “Crafting with Medical Devotion · A Promising Future,” was held.

After the topping-out ceremony, the leaders of the HeYou International Hospital Project Management Committee proceeded to the next stop, attending a road project commencement ceremony on Lin Shang Road in Beijiao Town, less than 3 kilometers from the HeYou International Hospital project. This project, named the Langui Road Project (Lin Shang Road to Hengyi Road) in Shunde District, Foshan City, is a key node in the district's “Four Horizontal and Six Vertical” arterial road network. With its commencement, the transportation around the HeYou International Hospital project is being systematically improved.

An administrative building topping-out ceremony and a road project commencement ceremony; one ending signifies another new beginning. The construction of the HeYou International Hospital project is like an unending marathon, steadily progressing towards the operational target date of June 2024. Professional talents are continuously converging here, and each construction milestone arrives as scheduled.

Mastering “Real-Time Data”

Hospital Construction Moves Towards Intelligence

Smart Construction Command Center

Inside the Smart Construction Pavilion of China Construction Third Engineering Bureau at the HeYou International Hospital project site, a screen matrix composed of one main screen and four auxiliary screens serves as the “central brain” of the hospital construction — the Smart Construction Command Center. Here, leveraging intelligent data collection, it can monitor real-time frontline construction data, the construction status of each area, and the latest progress of the entire project in real-time.

On May 27, at the topping-out ceremony site, we saw a building rising from reinforced concrete, with a tall and minimalist exterior. Simultaneously, on the main screen of the Command Center, we observed a set of multi-dimensional data models built upon intelligent information data. Efficient air circulation, maximum utilization of natural light, and strategically scattered green areas enable the administrative building of the HeYou International Hospital project to achieve low carbon and energy efficiency, contributing to the goals of carbon peak and carbon neutrality.

Rendering of the Administrative Building

The administrative building topping-out ceremony was just one milestone in the construction of the HeYou International Hospital project. On the screen of the Command Center, a slender project progress bar connects two numbers: 246 days and 1,057 days. One represents the time already spent on construction, the other the total project duration. Since the foundation laying in November 2020, project milestones have been steadily advancing: On April 30, 2022, the basement of Phase I of the hospital project was fully topped out; on May 27, the main structure of the administrative building was topped out; on August 8, the administrative building was handed over for interior finishing; by the end of November, the main structure of the medical technology and inpatient building was topped out……

HeYou International Hospital Project Construction Site

According to the plan, the hospital will include functional areas for outpatient services, inpatient care, administrative offices, IMC International Medical services, proton and heavy ion tumor therapy, academic exchange, medical research, and education and training. It will also feature dedicated areas such as exclusive talent housing for medical staff. Before the administrative building topping-out, on April 30, the basement of Phase I of the hospital project was fully topped out. The large basement, which has now been topped out, has a maximum building height of 69.9 meters and a basement construction area of approximately 100,000 square meters, housing the hospital's most critical nuclear medicine area.

Furthermore, the hospital construction plan includes the first standalone proton and heavy ion center project in South China, targeting treatment for tumor diseases prevalent in Guangdong Province, such as nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Currently, only Shanghai and Gansu have officially operating heavy ion projects in China. Once completed, this project will elevate the level of cancer treatment in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and even South China. The proton and heavy ion center is expected to be completed and commence registered clinical trials in 2026.

Exploring “Black Technology”

A Glimpse of Future HeYou Smart Healthcare in the Showroom

On the morning of May 27, the showroom of the HeYou International Hospital project was opened to the media for the first time.

From the construction site to the Smart Construction Command Center, the “development blueprint” of the HeYou International Hospital project is becoming increasingly clear, with a well-defined layout for future growth. However, what will the hospital, which is not scheduled to officially operate until 2024, actually look like? This has been a focal point of interest for local citizens and the government, who have placed increasing expectations on it.

No need to wait until 2024; you can find out now! On April 20, 2022, the showroom for the HeYou International Hospital project, with a total investment of 2.8 million RMB, was completed. Covering an area of approximately 430 square meters, the showroom features functional areas including a nurse station, consultation rooms, double-patient rooms, suite wards, restrooms, and accessible restrooms, simulating the future medical scenarios, service processes, and a series of “HeYou Black Technologies.”

On the morning of May 27, the showroom of the HeYou International Hospital project was opened to the media for the first time. Over a dozen well-known media outlets, filled with anticipation, gathered together, ready to unveil its mystery. Through live demonstrations by HeYou medical staff, smart healthcare products such as the Smart Nursing Service Screen, Smart Logistics System, Bedside Electronic Terminal, and Smart Beds were showcased one by one.

As the saying goes, “The doctor prescribes, but the nurse delivers.” Nurses often have to rush between wards to provide nursing services such as injections, accompany patients for examinations, and guide rehabilitation therapy. After a full day's shift, they can walk up to over ten kilometers. However, the distance walked is not necessarily positively correlated with service quality.

Smart Nursing Service Screen

How can nurses' legwork be reduced, allowing them to focus more on the quality of medical services? Smart healthcare is the essential path to optimizing medical services. The Smart Nursing Service Screen, integrated behind the nurse station counter in the HeYou International Hospital project showroom, completely liberates nurses' legs. One screen displays the real-time locations of patients, medical staff, equipment, and valuable consumables; another screen monitors intravenous infusion status in the wards in real-time.

Notably, the Smart Logistics System embedded in the wall behind the nurse station is a pneumatic tube transport system provided by Swisslog, a globally leading logistics automation brand. Resembling a roller coaster in appearance, it has a maximum load capacity of 15 kg and operates at speeds of 4-6 meters per second, suitable for transporting small items requiring urgent delivery (such as blood and urine specimens).

Bedside Electronic Terminal

Furthermore, the Bedside Electronic Terminal configured next to the patient bed integrates comprehensive and humanized smart systems including environmental control, smart infusion, nursing call, and vital signs monitoring, all of which patients can operate autonomously from their beds. The Smart Bed, in addition to conventional functions like elevation, can automatically detect and record patient data such as heart rate, respiration, and weight in real-time, helping medical staff comprehensively monitor patients' vital signs and rest status. Simultaneously, through anti-fall alarm linkage with the hospital's HIS system, patient safety is effectively ensured.

Charting a Grand Talent Blueprint

Talent Echelon Emphasizes Differentiated Development

Rendering of the HeYou International Hospital Project

A hospital requires three indispensable elements: innovative architecture, high-tech equipment, and world-leading talent. To date, although the HeYou International Hospital project is still in the construction phase, it has successfully signed contracts with over 20 renowned clinical experts in the industry, covering specialized fields such as oncology, orthopedics and sports medicine, nuclear medicine, neurology and brain medicine, and cardiovascular medicine.

“Equipment is the foundation, but what truly matters is the team of experts who can skillfully use the equipment to benefit patients,” said Lu Jiade, Vice President of the HeYou International Hospital project and Director of the Comprehensive Cancer Center and Proton and Heavy Ion Tumor Therapy Center. In his view, possessing world-class hardware is only the first step; talent is the core element for hospital development. As a rare private hospital in China with a single investment exceeding ten billion RMB, the HeYou International Hospital project must, amidst the tide of medical reform, not only build a talent development echelon suited to its actual needs but also expand its talent vision and clearly demonstrate its differentiated advantages.

Proton and Heavy Ion Center

Currently, according to the grand talent blueprint charted by HeYou, the talent team is subdivided into three echelons: leading talents, discipline leaders and core talents, and foundational talents. These three echelons pursue differentiated development. Leading talents guide discipline planning, lead academic development, introduce collaborative resources, and build brand influence. Discipline leaders and core talents steer discipline development, clinical diagnosis and treatment, research and teaching, and talent cultivation. Foundational talents provide the basic personnel for discipline development and hospital operations, including resident physicians, frontline nursing staff, and administrative and functional roles.

Starting in April 2022, the HeYou International Hospital project officially launched a global overseas talent recruitment drive, focusing on attracting talent from the top 100 hospitals on Newsweek's “World's Best Hospitals” list, including chief clinical experts, senior attending physicians, outstanding young physicians, and internationally-level medical and nursing teams across various specialties. Precise matching, rapid recruitment, and long-term retention... The closed-loop system of “attracting, cultivating, and retaining talent” for the HeYou International Hospital project is taking shape. To help employees maximize their self-worth, HeYou has established a permanent scientific research fund. Employees interested in research can engage in clinical research and translational medicine studies in fields such as medical equipment, medical devices, and biotechnology.

“The promotion process for young doctors requires balanced support from the medical, educational, and research systems,” stated Li Hengxu, Human Resources Director of the HeYou International Hospital project. He emphasized that the hospital's goals and pathways for talent strategy and development are clear and firm. “We find top-tier experts for mentorship, invest heavily in building the Translational Medicine Research Institute, and collaborate with universities on research, thereby creating an efficient and fair career growth platform.” He revealed that the Translational Medicine Research Institute, supporting the hospital, has been formally included in the planning phase. HeYou will fully leverage Midea Group's advantages in manufacturing and technology to help experts translate valuable outcomes, comprehensively connecting the “industry-academia-research-application” chain.

In “Sync” with Regional Transportation

From Guangzhou-Foshan to the Greater Bay Area

On the morning of May 27, the commencement ceremony for the Langui Road Project (Lin Shang Road to Hengyi Road) in Shunde District, Foshan City, was held.

On the morning of May 27, the commencement ceremony for the Langui Road Project (Lin Shang Road to Hengyi Road) in Shunde District, Foshan City, was held. As a significant section of the northern extension of Langui Road, this segment is a key node in Shunde District's “Four Horizontal and Six Vertical” arterial road network. The construction of this project holds significant importance for strengthening regional transportation links, driving economic development, optimizing the urban environment to create a first-class business environment, and enhancing the competitiveness of regional land development.

The full name of the project is “Shunde District Langui Road Project (Lin Shang Road — Hengyi Road Section, Hengwu Road — Wendeng Road Section) Section 1.” It starts south of Lin Shang Road in Beijiao Town, connecting to the existing Langui Road, continuously overpasses Lin Shang Road and Renchang Road before landing, and ends near Hengyi Road, with a route length of 2.170 km. Chen Jinliang, Deputy General Manager of the construction unit China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group Co., Ltd., introduced that the project will construct 1 new overpass bridge (671 meters long), renovate and utilize 1 existing bridge (30.24 meters long), utilize 1 culvert, and build 1 new pedestrian bridge. This will connect the existing dead-end road, shortening the “distance” between Beijiao Town and Chencun Town, further improving the national and provincial highway network in Shunde and meeting local traffic optimization needs in Beijiao Town. The project is expected to be completed in 2024.

Commencement Ceremony Site of the Langui Road Project (Lin Shang Road to Hengyi Road) in Shunde District, Foshan City

The HeYou International Hospital project is expected to commence operations in June 2024, which “coincidentally” aligns with the completion timeline of the Shunde District Langui Road Project (Lin Shang Road to Hengyi Road). This will lay a solid transportation foundation for the future operation of the HeYou International Hospital project.

The HeYou International Hospital project is located in the core area of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, within the Sanlong Bay High-End Innovation Agglomeration Zone in Foshan. Its future medical services are bound to cover the Sanlong Bay area and even the entire Foshan city. The completion of the Shunde District Langui Road Project (Lin Shang Road to Hengyi Road) will shorten the distance from the HeYou International Hospital project to Foshan's Nanhai, Chancheng, and Foshan New City areas. This will significantly benefit the medical service coverage of the HeYou International Hospital project, enabling it to better provide convenient and high-quality medical services to Foshan citizens.

In “sync” with regional transportation, the transportation environment for the HeYou International Hospital project is maturing. During the May Day holiday, the western extension of Guangzhou Metro Line 7 to Shunde was opened. As Guangzhou Metro's first cross-city line directly entering Shunde, Foshan, without the need for transfers, this line connects important Guangzhou hubs such as Guangzhou South Railway Station, Guangzhou Science City, and Guangzhou University City, which are key platforms for people flow, technology, and talent. With the integration of public transportation, on one hand, the HeYou International Hospital project can continuously attract talent and medical resources from both Guangzhou and Foshan; on the other hand, the vision of the HeYou International Hospital project's medical services covering both Guangzhou and Foshan is gradually becoming a reality.
