Specializes in deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery, with in-depth research on movement disorders such as Parkinson's disease and essential tremor, as well as vegetative state awakening and neuropathic pain management. Performs over 100 neuromodulation surgeries annually. Has pioneered a series of innovative clinical works: the first scholar in China (together with Professor Pan Longsheng) to perform magnetic resonance-guided focused ultrasound (MRgFUS) for treating essential tremor and Parkinson's disease, and has received specialized training in MRgFUS technology in Spain and Japan. One of the first scholars globally to perform 5G remote robotic DBS surgery.
In collaboration with the National Key Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroscience and Learning at Beijing Normal University, conducts early screening for Alzheimer's disease and cognitive impairment; participated in the first DBS treatment for Alzheimer's disease in China. Involved in the National Key Research and Development Program on neuromodulation therapy for depression.
In other disease treatment areas, has over 10 years of experience in the treatment and research of moyamoya disease; possesses extensive clinical experience in neurointervention and cerebral revascularization surgery for ischemic cerebrovascular disease; is proficient in neurocritical care techniques and briefly served as the head of the Neurosurgery Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the Chinese PLA General Hospital; during his doctoral studies, focused on spinal cord diseases, with innovative research on the pathogenesis and surgical improvement of craniovertebral junction anomalies, as well as the prevention and control of neural tube defects.
Published 34 papers (15 SCI) as first author or corresponding author; co-authored 2 monographs; obtained and applied for 17 patents; received one First Prize of Military Medical Achievement Award; undertook and participated in 14 research projects, including major frontier projects of the National 163 Special Zone and the National Key Research and Development Program. Participated in 6 international multi-center clinical trials of large medical equipment, such as MRgFUS, MRI-guided laser interstitial thermal therapy (LITT), and Zap-X cranial precision radiotherapy system, as well as clinical trials of domestic medical devices. Currently leading key research projects on domestic large medical equipment, including a portable cranial trauma detector, a multi-flexible-arm cranial surgical robot, and a new-generation laminar flow mobile surgical shelter (vehicle).
