For newly diagnosed obese patients with diabetes, glucose-lowering drugs with weight-reducing effects, such as GLP-1 receptor agonists, are used. This is combined with dietary intervention, formulating a low-sugar, low-fat, high-fiber diet plan to control caloric intake. For exercise, a combination of aerobic and resistance training is customized based on the patient's physical capacity to enhance metabolism, improve insulin resistance, and ultimately achieve diabetes reversal, reducing or even completely discontinuing glucose-lowering medications.
