Disease Introduction
Bone Infection Disease
Bone infection disease refers to the spread of pathogenic bacteria into bone tissue through various routes, such as hematogenous dissemination, local open trauma, or adjacent infection foci. After breaking through the body's defense barriers, the pathogenic microorganisms form localized infectious lesions. Bone infections can be classified as acute or chronic. For acute bone infection, antibiotic therapy is initiated first. If symptoms cannot be controlled after 2-3 days of antibiotic treatment, timely surgical intervention is required, including drilling and drainage, fenestration and decompression. For chronic bone infection, a combination of antibiotics and surgery is essential, as both are indispensable. Surgery primarily involves thorough debridement of the lesion, removal of sequestrum, and management of bone and skin defects left after lesion excision.
