Department Introduction
The Department of Thoracic Surgery integrates clinical care, teaching, and research, specializing in the management of common thoracic diseases and complex cases, including pulmonary nodules, lung cancer, tracheal tumors, esophageal cancer, mediastinal tumors, chest wall and pleural diseases, chest trauma, diaphragmatic diseases, hyperhidrosis, and chest injuries.

Precision Surgical Treatment of Pulmonary Nodules
Preoperative 3D-CTBA (three-dimensional reconstruction of bronchi and pulmonary vessels) and preoperative CT-guided anchor needle localization are employed. Intraoperatively, fluorescence imaging, watershed analysis, and magnetic navigation localization are utilized to achieve precise, nodule-centered resection (including uniportal VATS wedge resection, segmentectomy, combined subsegmentectomy, and combined segmentectomy). Perioperative care follows the principles of enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) for precise, minimally invasive, and accelerated recovery.

Comprehensive Treatment of Lung Cancer
For early-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) primarily at stage I and initially resectable stage II-III (locally advanced) NSCLC, surgery remains the primary curative modality. For initially unresectable stage II-III (locally advanced) NSCLC, neoadjuvant immunotherapy combined with chemotherapy is used to induce conversion to a resectable state, thereby offering these patients a chance for curative surgical resection.

Comprehensive Treatment of Esophageal Cancer
Esophageal cancer treatment adopts a surgery-based multidisciplinary comprehensive treatment model. For patients with locally advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, neoadjuvant camrelizumab combined with chemotherapy is administered prior to surgery. Surgical procedures employ minimally invasive thoracic and abdominal approaches, with cervical anastomosis techniques such as "tunnel-type" or "layered hand-sewn" anastomosis to reduce the incidence of anastomotic leakage.

Minimally Invasive Subxiphoid Three-Port Mediastinal Tumor Resection
Using three small incisions of 2cm, 0.5cm, and 0.5cm at the subxiphoid area, tumor resection can be completed, replacing the traditional 20cm longitudinal sternotomy incision. This technique offers lower risk, less trauma, faster postoperative recovery, and higher patient acceptance. In addition to mediastinal tumor resection, procedures such as pulmonary wedge resection, bullectomy, resection of some pulmonary nodules and benign lung tumors, and bilateral lung volume reduction surgery can also be performed.

Uniportal Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Pleural Decortication
Uniportal VATS pleural decortication, assisted by specialized pleural dissectors, can accomplish what traditionally required open thoracotomy, with reduced intraoperative bleeding, shorter operative time, and faster postoperative recovery.

Complex Thoracic Surgery
Includes double-sleeve lobectomy of the pulmonary artery and bronchus; colon interposition for esophageal replacement; tracheal, bronchial, and carinal reconstruction; autologous lung transplantation; superior sulcus tumor resection; chest wall reconstruction with 3D-printed PEEK artificial material after massive chest wall tumor resection; and mediastinal tumor resection with vascular reconstruction, among other highly complex thoracic surgical procedures.

Radiofrequency Ablation for Thoracic Tumors
For pulmonary metastases, lung malignancies in patients unable to tolerate surgery, multiple primary NSCLC, new or residual nodules after surgical resection in patients who cannot tolerate or refuse reoperation, radiofrequency ablation can be used to treat thoracic tumors.

Multidisciplinary Team Approach in Thoracic Surgery
For thoracic tumors such as pulmonary nodules, lung cancer, esophageal cancer, and mediastinal tumors, an MDT team has been established, including specialists from Thoracic Surgery, Respiratory Medicine, Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Pathology, Radiology, and Nuclear Medicine. This ensures truly comprehensive, individualized, precise, and multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment of thoracic diseases. For complex patients requiring multidisciplinary combined surgery, timely and reasonable treatment plans can also be provided.
