Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery

Department Introduction

The Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery integrates medical care, scientific research, teaching, prevention, healthcare, and emergency services

It comprises four sub-specialties: Otology, Rhinology, Laryngology and Head and Neck Surgery, and Thyroid Surgery. The department is equipped with domestically advanced surgical power systems, surgical microscopes, nasal endoscopes, electronic laryngoscopes, fiberoptic nasopharyngoscopes, and comprehensive auditory and nasal function testing systems. It can perform domestically advanced otologic microsurgery, head and neck tumor surgery, endoscopic sinus surgery, as well as hearing and vestibular function tests, and vertigo treatment and rehabilitation.

  • Otology

    Scope of Diagnosis and Treatment: Diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of diseases related to the ear and its associated structures, covering hearing issues, ear inflammation, structural abnormalities, and vertigo. Core diagnostic and treatment scope includes preauricular fistula, microtia, otitis externa, external auditory canal tumors, otitis media, middle ear cholesteatoma, sensorineural hearing loss, etc. Key Techniques: Endoscopic tympanic membrane repair, mastoidectomy, ossicular chain reconstruction for otosclerosis, cochlear implantation, etc.

  • Rhinology

    Scope of Diagnosis and Treatment: Diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of diseases of the nasal cavity, paranasal sinuses, and adjacent structures, covering inflammation, structural abnormalities, tumors, and olfactory disorders. Core diagnostic and treatment scope includes allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, snoring, benign and malignant tumors of the nasal cavity and skull base, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, and related otorhinolaryngologic diseases. Key Techniques: Endoscopic surgery for complex chronic sinusitis, transnasal endoscopic resection of benign and malignant nasal and sinus tumors, transnasal endoscopic repair of cerebrospinal fluid rhinorrhea, optic nerve decompression, transnasal endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy, etc.

  • Laryngology and Head and Neck Surgery

    Scope of Diagnosis and Treatment: Diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of diseases of the throat, neck, and head and facial structures, covering inflammation, tumors, functional disorders, and congenital malformations. Main diagnostic and treatment scope includes pharyngitis, laryngeal cancer, hypopharyngeal cancer, thyroid tumors, chronic tonsillitis, etc. Key Techniques: Tonsillectomy, resection of malignant tonsil tumors, surgical resection of pharyngeal hemangiomas, palatopharyngoplasty, etc.

  • Thyroid Surgery

    Scope of Diagnosis and Treatment: Diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of thyroid and related diseases, covering thyroid dysfunction, structural lesions, and related complications. Core diagnostic and treatment disease scope includes thyroid nodules, thyroid cysts, goiter, comprehensive treatment of thyroid tumors, etc. Key Techniques: Thyroid needle biopsy, resection of thyroid nodules or tumors.
