I. The Overlooked Threat to Men's Health

Although HPV is often regarded as a "women's health issue," data shows:

1. The HPV infection rate in men is comparable to that in women, with U.S. studies indicating a lifetime infection risk of 91.3%.

2. The virus has a long latency period (averaging over 2 years), is prone to reinfection, and has a low rate of spontaneous clearance, typically manifesting as genital warts, i.e., condyloma acuminata.

3. It may lead to tumors related to the anus and genital tract, such as anal cancer and penile cancer.

II. Essential Protective Knowledge

1. Infection Does Not Discriminate by Gender

HPV infection does not distinguish between men and women. The infection rate in men is high, and self-clearance is slower and often recurrent, so it should not be taken lightly.

2. Transmission Is Not Limited to Sexual Contact

Mother-to-child transmission and skin-to-mucous membrane contact in public baths can all transmit the virus, which can survive in areas such as the oral cavity and anus.

3. Be Vigilant if a Partner Is Infected

If a female partner experiences recurrent, persistent HPV infection, the likelihood of HPV infection in the male partner increases to 30%, often involving a single subtype or multiple concurrent infections.

Most men infected with high-risk HPV are asymptomatic in the early stages, but it may induce penile cancer, rectal cancer, etc. Such HPV infections are mostly located in the urethra and near the glans penis.

4. Asymptomatic Does Not Mean Safe

After high-risk HPV infection, the latency period for penile cancer can be 10-15 years, and diagnosis often occurs at an advanced stage.

III. Detailed Vaccination Guide

1. Eligible Population

Males aged 9-26 years (our hospital currently limits vaccination to those aged 18 and above).

2. Vaccination Schedule

Three doses are administered at intervals of 0, 2, and 6 months (for individuals aged 18 and above).

3. Important Restriction

The full course must be completed with the quadrivalent HPV vaccine (all three doses administered). Mixing with the nonavalent vaccine is not permitted.

4. Vaccination Procedure
