Honorary Moment | Professor Lu Jiade Elected Vice President of Shanghai Overseas Friendship Association
On the afternoon of November 8, 2025, the First Council Meeting of the Ninth Session of the Shanghai Overseas Friendship Association (SOFA) and its 40th Anniversary Commemorative Conference were held at the Shanghai World Expo Center. Over 400 representatives from domestic and international council members and standing council member units attended the meeting, jointly reviewing the 40-year development journey of SOFA and looking forward to the cause of overseas Chinese affairs and friendship in the new era.
The conference elected the leadership body of the Ninth Council of SOFA and the heads of various special committees. Chen Tong, Member of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and Minister of the United Front Work Department, was elected as the new President and delivered a speech. He emphasized that SOFA should deeply study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, further unite patriotic and friendly individuals at home and abroad, actively promote the great cause of national reunification, foster exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and foreign civilizations, and contribute wisdom and strength to Shanghai's high-quality development.

Leveraging Medical Expertise, Serving as Vice President of SOFA
At this conference, Professor Lu Jiade, Vice President of HeYou International Hospital Group and Director of the Comprehensive Cancer Center and Proton and Heavy Ion Center, was elected as the Vice President of the Ninth Council of SOFA, based on his outstanding achievements and extensive influence in the international medical community.

Professor Lu Jiade is a world-renowned expert in radiation oncology, long dedicated to the development of radiation therapy, proton and heavy ion medicine. He previously served as Vice President (Research) and Director of the Radiation Therapy Center at the National University Hospital of Singapore, as well as Executive Vice President of the Shanghai Proton and Heavy Ion Hospital. This election reflects Shanghai's high recognition of his outstanding contributions to international medical exchange, technological innovation, and domestic and international cooperation.
Expert Introduction | Professor Lu Jiade

Professor Lu Jiade, MD, MBA, currently serves as a member of the Management Committee of HeYou International Hospital Group, Vice President of HeYou Hospital, Director of the Comprehensive Cancer Center, and Director of the HeYou Proton and Heavy Ion Center. As a Distinguished Expert under the national high-level talent introduction program and the Chief Scientist of a key research and development project of the Ministry of Science and Technology, he has long been deeply engaged in the clinical, research, and educational frontiers of international radiation oncology, possessing a professional background and strategic vision that integrates Eastern and Western approaches.
Professor Lu earned his MD from the University at Buffalo, State University of New York, and his MBA jointly from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and the National University of Singapore (NUS). He completed his radiation oncology residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital, University of Miami, obtained board certification from the American Board of Radiology (ABR) in 2001, and received specialist qualification in radiation oncology in Singapore in 2002.
Professor Lu's career spans the United States, Singapore, and Mainland China, accumulating extensive experience in international healthcare management and cancer center development. He served as Head of the Department of Radiation Oncology at both the National University Hospital (NUH) and Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) in Singapore, and became Vice President (Research) of NUH in 2012, driving numerous international collaborations and clinical translational research. In 2014, he was invited to serve as the Executive Vice President of the Shanghai Proton and Heavy Ion Hospital, taking full responsibility for the hospital's entire process management from establishment to clinical operation. Since 2022, Professor Lu has joined HeYou International Hospital Group, leading the creation of a leading cancer center and particle therapy platform in the Greater Bay Area, promoting the overall development of precision cancer diagnosis and treatment. Under his guidance, HeYou Hospital has established an integrated cancer care system covering early screening, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and research translation.
Professor Lu has a broad influence in the international field of radiation oncology, having published over 100 SCI-indexed research papers, editorials, and review articles, and serves on the editorial boards of several international medical journals. As a key academic driver in the field of international medical publishing, he has edited or translated over ten English-language textbooks and reference books on radiation oncology, including two major international academic book series under Springer-Nature: Medical Radiology – Radiation Oncology and Practical Guides in Radiation Oncology. The Chinese edition of Practical Guides in Radiation Oncology is widely used in China for radiation oncology resident training and standardized practice, hailed as a "teaching model for radiation therapy standardization."
Professor Lu currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the SCI-indexed journal Chinese Clinical Oncology, dedicated to promoting clinical cancer research and international academic dialogue in the Asia-Pacific region. He is a former member of the Executive Committee of the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology (CSCO) and has been invited to serve as a strategic advisor to several international listed healthcare companies and research institutions.
Professor Lu Jiade is not only a clinical radiation oncologist but also a medical educator, a promoter of international cooperation, and a systematic integrator of cancer center development. He firmly believes that truly excellent cancer care relies not only on technological advancement but also requires conceptual leadership and humanistic warmth. He will continue to lead the HeYou Comprehensive Cancer Center, focusing on cutting-edge information and clinical practice, to promote the deep integration of Chinese and international oncology and the development of public education.
