On March 28, 2026, the "2026 Clinical Research Innovation Forum and Face-to-Face with Editors-in-Chief" event, co-hosted by AME Publishing Company and Wolters Kluwer, was held in Hong Kong. The forum brought together nearly 100 editors-in-chief, editorial board members, clinicians, and researchers from globally renowned medical journals to discuss topics including clinical research innovation, academic publishing trends, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Professor Lu Jiade, Deputy Director of the Management Committee of HeYou International Hospital Group, Executive Vice President of HeYou Hospital, Director of the Comprehensive Cancer Center, and Director of the Proton and Heavy Ion Center attended the forum as a special guest speaker. In his capacity as Editor-in-Chief of the AME journal "Chinese Clinical Oncology," he delivered a keynote speech titled "Precision Application of Proton and Carbon Ion Therapy in Complex Tumors."

Technical Exploration and Practice of Proton and Heavy Ion Radiotherapy

During his speech, Professor Lu Jiade elaborated on the core technical principles of proton and heavy ion therapy. When protons or carbon ions are accelerated by a synchrotron to approximately 70% of the speed of light, they release lower energy before reaching the tumor lesion, then concentrate energy release upon reaching the target, forming a "Bragg Peak" energy trajectory. This enables stereotactic irradiation of the tumor while reducing damage to surrounding normal tissues.

Drawing on his years of international clinical practice, Professor Lu shared treatment experience based on a standardized protocol. This protocol has been applied to over 5,600 patients, achieving favorable outcomes particularly in the treatment of complex tumors such as those in the head, neck, and central nervous system.

Group Strategy: Construction of the Proton and Heavy Ion Center and Research Platform

Professor Lu Jiade introduced the significant strategic layout of HeYou International Hospital Group in the field of precision medicine. The Group's Proton and Heavy Ion Center at HeYou Hospital has a total investment exceeding 2 billion RMB. It has introduced the Hitachi proton and heavy ion integrated treatment system, planning for 1 360-degree rotating proton treatment room, 2 heavy ion treatment rooms, and reserving 1 treatment room for future technological upgrades. In December 2025, HeYou Hospital received approval from the National Health Commission for the configuration of a heavy ion proton radiotherapy system. Equipment commissioning and clinical validation are currently progressing as planned.

In terms of research collaboration, the Group has partnered with Soochow University to establish the South China Clinical Center of the State Key Laboratory of Radiation Medicine and Radiation Protection, with Academician Chai Zhifang of the Chinese Academy of Sciences serving as its director. The two parties have also established a graduate workstation to foster talent cultivation and research innovation in the field of radiation medicine. This platform provides academic support for the Group's continued development in proton and heavy ion radiotherapy.

International Collaboration: HeYou Hospital and HeYou Zhizhen Hospital Join the Mayo Clinic Care Network

Professor Lu Jiade also shared the Group's latest achievements in its internationalization process. In March 2026, HeYou Hospital and HeYou Zhizhen Hospital officially joined the Mayo Clinic Care Network. Mayo Clinic has a history of over 160 years, and its care network is centered on knowledge sharing and global collaboration, comprising over 40 rigorously selected independent healthcare institutions worldwide.

As members of the Mayo Clinic Care Network, HeYou Hospital and HeYou Zhizhen Hospital will gain access to a range of clinical and knowledge support tools, including AskMayoExpert disease practice guidelines, remote case consultations (eConsults), and multidisciplinary case discussions (eBoards). This means that patients in the Greater Bay Area can access internationally advanced diagnostic and treatment recommendations without leaving the country.

Professor Lu Jiade stated: "Joining the Mayo Clinic Care Network reflects our shared commitment to patient-centered health needs. Through the Network's knowledge-sharing platform, HeYou's physicians can conveniently access the diagnostic and treatment pathways and clinical experience of a world-class medical institution, enabling us to better serve local patients."

Face-to-Face with Editors-in-Chief: Promoting Academic Exchange and Research Collaboration

The forum featured a special "Face-to-Face with Editors-in-Chief" session. Drawing on his own experience in peer review and publishing, Professor Lu Jiade engaged with young clinicians and researchers on topics such as enhancing the academic impact of research findings and navigating the review standards of high-impact journals. He emphasized that high-quality research must address real clinical problems while gaining international peer recognition through standardized academic expression.

This invitation to attend the forum reflects HeYou International Hospital Group's continued engagement on the international academic stage. Moving forward, the Group will continue to leverage the Proton and Heavy Ion Center, the joint laboratory with Soochow University, and the collaboration with the Mayo Clinic Care Network to promote the deep integration of clinical practice and research, providing higher quality medical services for patients in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
