Discussing the Development of Health Social Work, Exploring New Practices in Humanistic Healthcare
On April 16, 2025, organized by the He Foundation and Shunde Charity Federation, experts and scholars from Peking University and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, along with local social worker representatives from Shunde, gathered at HeYou Hospital to explore the local practice and future development of health social work.
The guests visited the outpatient hall and the hospital history museum of HeYou Hospital, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the hospital's patient-centered service philosophy and medical innovation achievements, from the modern medical environment to the hospital's development history.
During the exchange session, Yixin Social Work shared practical experiences in community health social work; Qichuang Social Work focused on the distinctive model of in-hospital health services. In the interactive segment, participants engaged in heated discussions on topics such as resource integration and service optimization, offering suggestions for the development of health social workers in Shunde District.
The event brought together academic leaders such as Professor Ma Fengzhi from Peking University and Professor Gu Xuebin from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, as well as philanthropic partners including the He Foundation and Shunde Charity Federation. Professor Ding Chengyun, Director of the Neurology Department at HeYou Hospital, and Dr. Jin Yanbin from the same department participated throughout, demonstrating the power of cross-sector collaboration.
Based on the baseline survey project on the development of humanistic healthcare and health social work in Shunde District, and with support from multiple parties, the China Social Work Research Center of Peking University and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University conducted scientific research, providing an important basis for deepening health social work services in Shunde. In the future, HeYou Hospital will continue to explore the innovative model of medical + social work, helping to build a warmer health service system.
This exchange meeting was based on the baseline survey project on the development of humanistic healthcare and health social work in Shunde District. Supported by the Shunde District Committee's Social Work Department, the District Health Bureau, and charitable organizations, the project conducted scientific research to map service resources and analyze the current situation and challenges, providing key data support for the development of regional health social work.
As a key participant in the project, HeYou Hospital has always been committed to exploring the innovative service model of medical + social work. In the future, the hospital will continue to deepen the following directions: improving the in-hospital health social work system to enhance the quality of patient care throughout the full cycle; strengthening cross-sector collaboration, linking academic institutions and public welfare organizations to drive policy and practice innovation; and promoting humanistic healthcare experience to help build a warmer community health network.
